This & That

Mr. Coco

I never realized how important pet adoption is until my husband and I adopted a pet for the first time. There are so many wonderful animals out there that need loving homes. We found Coco through a local pet foster home in Toronto on a whim almost exactly three years ago, and it’s truly one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

I always had a dog growing up and planned on getting my own someday, but hadn’t expected it to happen quite so soon. My parents went out of town and we reluctantly took their dog for the weekend, thinking it would be pretty annoying riding the condo elevator all day to take him out for a pee, but it turned out to be the exact opposite. After that weekend I was obsessed, (read OBSESSED!) with getting a dog. I scoured the internet for local pet adoption sites and came across a few options before emailing about Coco. They responded saying someone else had already inquired about him, and for some reason I didn’t inquire about any other dogs. Two weeks later the home called us and asked if we were still interested. We said YES! We filled out the paperwork and met with his foster home caretakers, and the next day he was ours! He is sweet, loves to cuddle, has a huge personality, and always keeps me company while I’m working. We LOVE him!

People often think that if you adopt a dog (or any other animal), you might end up with a pet with a lot of behavioral issues that are impossible to correct, but that’s not the case. Often, all they need is a loving home with the right care and consistency, and they become their sweet little (or big!) selves. It’s definitely 100% worth it.

Coco is the cutest! I didn’t realize you adopted him. I will need to pick your brain in a few months. The SECOND we get a house we are getting our hands on a rescue dog as well!
